Awards will be presented for each event immediately following each event!

Eligibility: U.S. ID-card holders assigned to Europe or TDY to Europe for 30 days or more and NATO ID-card holders with US installation access cards. Please inquire about specific eligibility rules if you need clarification.

June 14 - Mountain Bike Race
Fourth Event of the 2008 U.S. Forces Europe Mountain Bike Series

Location: Start is at the southwest side of the CYS Soccer Field on the LTA training range near the main gate of Panzer Kaserne08 MTB Race Flyer

Course: 8.3 mile loop. Course is a mix of forest roads and some single track/open meadow, 300m vertical climbing per lap. Some mud (depending on weather) and roots on singletrack. Technical difficulty is medium difficulty.

Schedule of Events:
1000: On-site registration and number pick-up
1100: Men's open, senior, master divisions start -- 3 laps
1115: Women -- 2 laps; and Juniors (16-18) -- 1 lap
BBQ and awards after the race!!

Entry Fee: $10 or $15 for both the mountain bike race and the Patch Criterium road bike race.

Directions to Panzer Kaserne: For GPS directions to Panzer Kaserne, use the intersection of Panzerstrasse and Herdweg Str in Boeblingen.  To reach Panzer Kaserne:   From A8, proceed south on A81 by taking exit 51 - Kreuz Stuttgart toward Singen/Boeblingen/Sindelfingen.  Merge onto A81 and proceed 3 km and take exit 22 towards Boeblingen Ost toward Schonaich.  After 1.5 km, turn left on Friedrich-Gerstlacher Str. which then turns into K1057/Panzerstr.  Proceed 1.4 km and turn right on Herdweg.  The Panzer main gate will be immediately on your left. 

The race start is at the southeast corner of the CYS Soccer Field on the Panzer LTA.  To get there, take a left hand turn on the secondary road 600 meters past Herdweg Str (the entrance for  the Panzer main gate as you are heading towards Schonaich (East) on Panzerstrasse).  Parking may be limited due to CYS soccer games and you may want to park at the Panzer AFEES BX/PX just inside the Panzer main gate and ride/walk to the start.

Category for the U.S. Forces Mountain Bike Series is determined by birth date as of 10 May 2008. The U.S. Forces Series has more categories than what is offered at this event and results will be credited to the appropriate category for series points.

Awards: Top three in each category!


June 15 - Criterium
Second Event of the 2008 U.S. Forces Europe Road Cycling Series


Location: Patch Barracks

Course: Fast, flat, square course with 4-90 degree turns. 1 lap = .8km!
This is a scratch race - not a points race. The first across the finish line after 30 laps (men) and 20 laps (women) is the winner!

1000:
On-site registration and number pick up
1100: Men's Open (30 laps) & Women's Open (20 Laps)
1200: Men's Masters (30 laps)
1300: Men's Senior (30 laps)

Entry Fee:  $10 ($15 for both the Criterium and Mountain bike race)

Directions to Patch Barracks: To get to Patch Barracks, use the GPS address: Katzenbach Str, 70569 Vaihingen. If you are coming south on A5 or A81, proceed on A8 eastbound towards Munchen. Take exit 51 - Kruez Stuttgart toward S-Zentrum/S-Vaihingen. Merge onto A831 northbound. After .5 km, take exit for Stuttgart - Vaihingen and take a left at the bottom of the exit ramp. Proceed 1 km until you see the entrance to Patch Barracks on the left.

Men's Masters (Birth year 1968 and earlier)
Women's Open
Men who are eligible for either the Senior or Masters category may compete in their age category or the open, but not both

Race Distance:
All men's categories - 30 laps = 30km
Women - 20 laps = 20km

Awards: Awards will be presented to the first, second and third place finishers in each category. The awards ceremony will be held at the start/finish area immediately after the race.
