Eligibility: ID-card holders assigned to a U.S. installation in Europe or TDY to Europe for 30 days or more. Please inquire about specific eligibility rules if you need clarification.
Helmets are mandatory! Mountain bikes are not permitted. Time trial bars allowed for time trial event only.
Categories:
Men's Open
Men's Senior (Birth years 1967-1976)
Men's Masters (Birth year 1966 and earlier)
Women's Open
Men who are eligible for either the Senior or Masters category may compete in their age category or the open, but not both. Once you choose a category for the series, you must race in that category for all future events.
Schedule:
1000: Time Trial - 4km for men, 3km for women
Points races will start around 1300 and category combinations will be determined on-site depending upon the number of participants in each category.
Awards (medals) will be presented to the top three in each category for the time trial and points race combined. 2006 Flyte1.com U.S. Forces Europe Road Cycling Series awards will also be presented.
Time Trial: A favorite at past events! Each rider is alone against the track and the clock!
Points Race: Every five laps, participants will sprint for the finish line with the first four across the line receiving points (5, 3, 2, 1 points). The one with the most points at the end is the winner (not necessarily the first one across the line at the end of the race). Rules will be further explained and clarified on-site!
The last time we organized this event was in 2004 -- check out the results here!
Points for the time trial and road race will be awarded IAW "USFE Series Race Points". Ties will be broken using the points race results. Overall results for the day will be awarded points using the same system and added to the previous three events for the category winners in the Flyte1.com U.S. Forces Europe Road Cycling Series.
Location: From Vogelweh, travel south on B270 approximately 10km to the town of Schopp. Schopp is a left turn off of B270. Follow the signs for "Radrennbahn" to the start area. Additional signs with "USFE" will also be posted.
Lodging: Call Ramstein lodging at 480-4920 for a space-available room (they take calls 24-hours in advance). They can also help you with local hotel reservations. Vogelweh lodging is the closest to the event site (although Ramstein makes reservations for Vogelweh as well, you can try giving Vogelweh a call directly).
