Armed Forces Team Update
16 April 2006
Armed Forces Cyclists are settling in for the long season ahead. As to be expected, there are some ups, downs and crashes along the way but the team remains focused.
Steve Mlujeak won the Waterford Hills Spring Series criterium in Michigan. It was his first race after receiving his new Armed Forces Team issue Flyte SRS-2 bike. He loves this bike and hopes it puts him in front of the peloton all season long! Steve races again in Ann Arbor Michigan on April 23. Racing in the cold northland of Michigan is just beginning for Steve now that the snow is gone!
George Ganoung and Andy Shaw raced the Mount Joy Road Race in Pennsylvania for the NCVC Team. Andy got caught up in a crash at the front of the field about midway through the race that ended his day. George rode aggressively and ended up 13th on the day. George's next event will be La Vuelta De Bisbee, 28-30 April in Arizona.
Becky Gross competed at Sea Otter in the women's pro mountain bike division where she competed in the time trial, short track and cross country events placing 52nd in the General Classification. Next, she'll take on the Conquer The Canyons Stage Race in Westlake Villiage, CA, 22-23 April.
Holly Borowski missed the Sea Otter Classic after being hit by a car on a training ride the day prior to the Sea Otter start. She took a recovery weekend and will race again on April 22-23 at the Wente Vineyards Classic.
Ian Holt transferred jobs from being a student at Vandenberg AFB, California to FE Warren AFB in Wyoming. On the way he raced Sea Otter for training and is already attacking the Colorado race circuit.
