A race update from Armed Forces Team members who are stationed where there is no snow!

Andy Shaw, Shawn Olin and Ian Holt rode strong at the Tour of Murrieta in Southern California with Andy taking 5th from a small breakaway on the first stage crit and following up with a top-20 finish on the second day road race to finish 7th overall on the general classification. Ian and Shawn were active in breakaways throughout both stages and policed the front of the peloton ensuring Andy’s break stuck on day 1. The prior weekend Shawn won the second race of the Fiesta Island Time Trial Series in San Diego, finishing in a time of 26:30 over the 20k course while Ian and Andy duked it out with the pros at the first NRC stop, The Tour of Merced, finishing mid-pack the first day after getting caught up in a crash late in the race.

Holly Borowski continued her foray into NRC-level racing as a guest of the McGuire team helping her teammate win Stage 1 of the Tour of Merced in California and finishing a very respectable 33rd herself. She followed up at the tough Central Valley Stage race finishing mid-pack on all 3 stages.

Rebecca Gross kicked off her season in the 2 day La Primavera circuit race series in Lago Vista, Texas finishing 11th and 16th respectively on each day.

George Ganoung and Beth Mason will both open their racing seasons on 26 March at the Jefferson Cup in Charlottesville, Virginia. Steve Mlujeak will open on 25 March at the Waterford Hills Spring Training Series in Clarkston, Michigan.
