Armed Forces Team Takes Flyte in 2006
22 Dec 05

The U.S. Armed Forces Cycling Team and Echelon Sports Products (ESP) finalized a deal today that will put the U.S. Armed Forces Cycling Team on Flyte bicycles (www.flyte1.com) for the 2006 season. The team will ride the Flyte SRS-2 road bike which combines U6 double-butted aluminum tubing with carbon fiber seat and chain stays. Time trial specialists will also receive a newly-designed TT bike due for release in March.

"Echelon Sports has sponsored the team for the past two years" according to team manager Debra Ponzio, "we are excited to continue our relationship under their new Flyte brand. They have been great supporters of our team, and all military cyclists, so continuing our relationship was an easy decision. We are a small-budget team of professional military people - we have to fit cycling around our first priority, the military mission. It's the support of corporate sponsors, like Echelon Sports, that allows us to compete at such a high level."

The U.S. Armed Forces Team competes primarily on the road and is made up of the best United States Cycling Federation (USCF) Category 1 men and Category 1/2 women in the military. Team members compete in local and regional races near where each is stationed and get together for larger National Race Calendar events as their duty schedules permit. They represent the United States annually in the Military World Championships - the 2006 event will be hosted by The Netherlands in late July.

"We are proud to have the Armed Forces Team racing on Flyte bikes for 2006" says Jamie Raddin, President and Founder of Echelon. "They are great ambassadors for the both the military and for cycling -- they represent our products well."

Another way ESP has supported the military is through the "Military Honor Program." As part of their contract package with the Armed Forces Team, they offer a 20% discount to all Active Duty, Reservists, National Guard and Military Retirees. The discount can be used to order just a frame or for a complete bike. Hundreds of military cyclists have taken advantage of this program over the past two years. Eligible customers can find out more about the discount program by visiting www.flyte1.com/military.asp or by emailing sales@flyte1.com.

"The Military Honor Program is our way of giving back to those who serve our country" says Raddin "our Internet-based sales team is ready to help military cyclists everywhere find the bike that's perfect for them whether it's for mountain biking, road cycling or cyclocross."
