Army SSG Michael Gallagher Finishes 2nd in Nierstein
5 Nov 05

Michael Gallagher was on form again in Nierstein, adding a second place finish to what is quickly becoming his best-ever cyclocross season.

Neirstein, one of the harder stops in the German Sud West Cup Series is located along the Rhine River. Course organizers took full advantage of the steep vineyards, for which the area is famous. The first selection was decided from the start with a lead group of five. After two laps and a nice 8% 25m run up the final selection was made, Gallagher and eventual winner Sascha Wagner.

"Wagner and I dueled it out in the closing laps," said Gallagher. "I was gapped on the hill leading into the run up and was not able to close the 10-20 second gap." Gallagher finished second.
