Navy PO1 Shawn Olin places 5th in the Urban Cyclocross Black Cat Doublecross

With a 5th place finish in the Urban Cyclocross Black Cat Doublecross Race, Shawn Olin moved himself to an overall ranking of 6th in the Southern California Cyclocross Series.

This race, held in Los Angeles, was the 6th race of 14 that makes up the Southern California Cyclocross Series.

Held on a course that featured a twisty, European-style grass section with sticky mud and  barrires.  The course also contained the typical southern California fast gravel gravel sections requiring maximum effort and a tight single-track section to put bike handling skills to the test.  After catching a bad start, Olin rode his way into third position when an unfortunate mechanical forced him off the bike for a quick repair, relegating him to 5th by the finish.

Olin won't be racing this weekend, but the next race in the series is the Urban Cyclocross in Palos Verdes, 13 November.
