Army SSG Michael Gallagher 12th and 21th in Grand Prix of Gloucester

Michael Gallagher moved up from 21st to 19th in the U.S. Grand Prix of Cyclocross by finishing 12th and 21st in series events this past weekend. Both events are ranked as Category 2 UCI races.

Gallagher, made his second trip of the cross season from Germany, where he is stationed as a computer systems administrator with the U.S. Army, to compete in the U.S. Grand Prix.
Gallagher was amazed to see snow on Saturday and the sunshine on Sunday in Gloucester, "The event on Saturday was a fight to the finish and the Sunday event was a sprint to the finish. I didn't have any idea the weekend would be like this."
Grand Prix of Gloucester #1: With a starting position in the 5th row (about 50 riders from the front), Gallagher fought his way forward on a snow-covered course to finish in 12th place (10 th in the elite class). He was also rewarded with one point in the UCI international standings for this effort.

Grand Prix of Gloucester #2:
According to Gallagher, “today was about 65 degrees as compared with yesterday’s snow-covered event. The course was so fast that a good start was pivotal. I was able to make it into 21st overall and 19th for the elite from starting second row from the end of the field.”
